The one with China Glaze Capitol Colours Electrify!

So where Luxe and Lush failed (for me) Electrify made up! Electrify is a red and yellow glitter, corresponding with District 5 and power. I was able to get two coats to practically opaque. This one just shines for me! It's great in the sun - but is very hard to capture!

The formula wasn't goopy or unmanageble. It was quite the opposite. So easy to apply! And it wasn't hungry much. I mean, it was a little rough, but top coat can take care of that :) So...I have already planned out what my mani is going to be when I go see the Hunger Games in the theatre. Lame or brilliant? Well, it's tomorrow's post, so stay tuned!

The one with China Glaze Capitol Colours Luxe and Lush!

Let me start this post off by saying that I don't like this polish hahaha I never quite got the flaky trend, but thought Luxe and Lush, the polish corresponding with District 1 in the China Glaze Capitol Colours collection would be awesome. Not so much for me. It was goopy and stubborn and just...not good. I layered it over Smoke and Ashes as a test...then after working with it, I just threw in the towel of trying it over other bases...

To me, that's a clunky, chunky mess. I can only imagine the top coat it would take to tame it hahahah Don't get me wrong. The flashes are beautiful...but it's just too much of a mess for me to think about using often.

The one with China Glaze Capitol Colours Smoke and Ashes!

Today's post is another from the China Glaze Capitol Colours collection - Smoke and Ashes! This is the color that represents District 12, the district from which Katniss and Peeta hail. It's the mining district - so smoke and ashes is appropriate. This is a black base with green glitter...and is there some blue in there too? My only grupe about this polish is that it's so dark you have to watch application. My hand jerked and I flooded a little of my cuticles. It wasn't pretty to try to clean up :(

Isn't it totally pretty? If I hadn't flooded my cuticle I would probly like it a lot more hahaha I do like it, tho. The formula is excellent, and opaqueness was achieved in two coats. Do you guys having any of the Capitol Colours? Which are your favorites?

The one with China Glaze Capitol Colours Riveting!

Happy Sunday to all! Today I have a polish that I am super excited about - China Glaze Riveting! It's one of the Capitol Colours, the polish set made in conjunction with the Hunger Games movie release. The movie(s) is based on a fabulous novel by Suzanne Collins - and I will admit I blew through the books pretty fast because they are so well written, with a great storyline. Suffice to say, I have been waiting for these polishes for a while now! I knew I wanted Riveting, as I'm such a fan of orange! This shade corresponds with District 3, the technology district (If you know the Hunger Games, you know about the districts).

It reminds me of fire! Fire is a big thread running through the books. At one point, the two characters are 'set on fire' by a stylist. Not really on fire, but yeah. The main character, Katniss Everdeen, is constantly referred to as "The Girl on Fire." This gorgeous orange captures it perfectly!

I cannot say enough good things about this polish. Application was wonderful; the formula flowed on the nail. Two coats to perfection! This will definitely be a staple of my collection - I will wear this one again and again!

The one with Franken Friday - Kill the Messenger!

TGIF! I'm so glad it's Friday! I have another addition to my Vampire Diaries franken collection, Kill the Messenger today! This is named after one of my favorite quotes;

"Because I do believe in killing the messenger. You know why? Because it sends a message."

hehehe Damon always has the best lines. Anyway, I wasn't sure what I was trying to create when I set out to make Kill the Messenger. What came out is something like the HTF polish China Glaze Crystal Ball...altho I've never seen it in person.

It's like a cranberry-grape color. Scattered with sparkles. Pink and holo and...rainbow? It's really pretty in person, the way it subtley flashes. I have one more Vampire Diaries polishes to franken, and it's posing a problem. I can't seem to get it right. When I do get it right, I will be super happy hahah

The one with Fail Art Thursday - my Chalkboard Nails contest entry

So Sarah over at Chalkboard Nails is having a contest. You have to use dotting tools to create a design. I'm not good at nail art, stamping or dotting tools, but I figured I'd give it a try. My husband gave me the idea to try the solar system. I did the art in stages because it was kind of complicated.
Base is WnW Black Creme, then sponged with a little LA Colors Wired (a shimmery blue). I then topped that with Northern Lights Hologran Top Coat and let it go over night hahahah. Colors used for the planets and sun include WnW Spoiled Designated Driver, Correction Tape, Pumping Gas and I Tripped on the Red Carpet, Cult Nails Tied Up, Sinful Colors UFO, OPI Jade is the New Black, and Zoya Kristen, Tallulah and Carey.

My thumb is obviously the sun; pointer has Mercury and Venus; middle has Earth and Mars; ring has Jupiter and Saturn; and my pinky has Uranus and Neptune. I fought the urge to put a little purple dot on my pinky for Pluto, but I didn't.

It's not much, but I did it! I can say I will never enter a anil art contest again hahahahahha It's too much stress.

The one with Finger Paints flakies!

*phew* Getting to this post has taken several weeks hahah I'm pretty new to flakies, and I wanted to test them over several different bases and colors. So here they are! hahah
Asylum over Julep Helena
Asylum is my favorite of the flakies! It's orange/blue/purple, and looks good over anything!
Flashy over Cult Nails Time Traveler
Flashy over LA Colors Atomic
Flashy is orange/yellow/green. I like this one better over dark colors.
Flecked over LA Colors Static Electricity
Flecked is blue/green. It looks good over a lot of different colors.
Asylum, Motley and Flashy over OPI Orange You From New York?
Flashy and Motley over LA Colors Atomic
Motley is purple/green. I definitely need to try it alone on several bases :)

So what do you guys think about flakies? I think they are pretty! But I don't wear them that often. Do you have favorites?

The one with Joe Fresh Twilight!

So the flaky craze is still alive and well! haha I don't know when this polish, Joe Fresh Twilight, came out, but I received it in a swap with a lovely polish friend named Rebecca. She sent me so many wonderful polishes...and I love them all :) Twilight is a green-based flaky. The flakies flash all different colors. I swear I saw a rainbow hahah I'm not a fan of flakies on their own, so I always layer them...

I'm not entirely sold on this flaky. And well, flakies in general. Tomorrow I will have Finger Paints flakies for you....in a WIDE variety of uses haha Lots of different, unconventional bases :)

The one with Joe Fresh Peacock!

*phew* Another Joe Fresh blue :) This time I have a shimmery one tho! Today's post is Joe Fresh Peacock, a gorgeous tealish blue. The formula on this one was definitely different than the cremes. It's probly just the difference in the finish. It was thinner, and seemed harder to get opaque. Some of my nails have two thick coats, some two regular coats.

While I really enjoy this color, I think I like the Joe Fresh cremes better. I think I'm more of a creme finish person anyway. What's your favorite finish?

The one with Joe Fresh Navy!

Back to blues! Today I have another Joe Fresh polish for you, Navy! A creamy, dreamy, deepest darkest blue that is so gorgeous. I also switched the commenting on the blog back to Blogger commenting. I was getting annoyed with Intense Debate. I will keep Intense Debate on the previous posts until I can successfully transfer the comments. I couldn't do that so I lost all previous comments from ID :(

Back to polish! Yes, this Joe Fresh is perfect. The formula is silky smooth, and I had absolutely no trouble applying it. If I had been careful with my strokes, I probly could have gotten away with one coat of this polish. I love one-coaters. Another awesome thing is I had absolutely NO staining with this polish. That's a win in my book, too :)

I am in LOVE with this blue. It's everything I wanted Zoya Cynthia to be. I tried to love Cynthia, but she and I just didn't mix.

The one with Franken Friday - Destroya!

I'm in a few polish groups on Facebook. I have met a few very bad eggs (and a few people who I thought were nice are slowly showing their true bag egg colors, which makes me sad) and I have met some very nice people who are definitely my friends. One such friend is Rebecca of Rebecca Likes Nails. You may remember her from her franken creation, Rebecca Likes Cupcakes. She's so sweet that she made me a franken for JUST ME. Well, and herself. So she and I are the only two people who have a bottle of the glittery awesomeness that is Destroya!

Destroya you ask? What is that? It's the name of a song by our favorite band, My Chemical Romance. She even named it something we both enjoy! This polish is a SERIOUS glitter bomb. She used like a dozen or something glitters to toss it together. I can't even remember how many! The base is clear, but there is just about every glitter imaginable! In this photos I have it layered over WnW Spoiled 2 Weeks Sober, a grapey purple.
I love it! It makes it even more special that Rebecca and I are the only two who have bottles of this. We're kind of in a secret club like that :)
